Mole XXII calls for scaling up of CLTS

Regional Minister to eradicate open defecation by 2012
The Northern Regional Minister, Moses Magbengba, eager to eradicate open defecation in the Northern Region, has officially requested for funds from the Ministry of Local Government to embark on his big ambition. Triggered by presentations on the new national environmental sanitation model, the Community-led Total Sanitation (CLTS) in Tamale in February this year, the Minister did not mince words by declaring his readiness to rid the region of open defecation by December 2012. CLTS Ghana for AfricaSan in July
The National Technical Working Group on Sanitation (NTWG) will most likely participate fully in the up-coming AfricaSan in July. At a recent meeting of the NTWG, preparations were underway for about three different presentations, each focusing on different aspects of CLTS activities and/or plans in Ghana. Boost for CLTS in Ghana – Kamal Kar in town
Dr Kamal Kar has said that it is possible for Ghana to even exceed the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) target of 54 per cent for Sanitation by 2015 through effective implementation of the concept even though the current coverage is 13%. Read more>>
